World Basketball Festival

Slice Events for Nike

Following on from the great success of your Make It Count campaign, Nike sponsored and managed the UK leg of the World Basketball Festival event, held in Brixton in the summer 2012.

This injection-fuelled one day event was held in Windrush Square, near Brixton Basketball Club; arguably the home of British basketball. This free one day community event, featured many successful international coaches and players from the sport, including Luol Deng of the infamous Chicago Bulls.

Windrush Square was transformed with a Bergo Premium court, allowing many young players to participate in athletic clinics in the morning, extending into the afternoon with some action packed three on three games and an unforgettable slam dunk contest.

The festival climaxed with a five on five game between Team Nike from New York and a GB all-star team. The event featured many high profile appearances of heroes, past and present and a ticket only hip hop concert held at the 02 Brixton Academy, featuring Big Boi and up and coming artist Dot Rotten for the over 14s.

Bergo Premium surface from TactTiles was installed to create a full sized basketball court, as a temporary system which will be used for future Nike events.

What Our Customers Say...

TactTiles’ service and installation far exceeded our expectations. Our play area now looks bigger, brighter and cleaner and it’s reassuring to know that the surface is non-slip and will be durable for many years to come!

Lynne Roberts, Beacon Nursery

The play area was looking tired & uninspiring, we wanted to brighten things up without compromising safety. We’re just thrilled with the result. It’s practical, safe, fun and maintenance free; just what we wanted in every way.
